Larson Highlights Need to Work Together on Infrastructure
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) highlighted the need for both parties to work together in Congress on an infrastructure package during a Ways and Means Committee hearing on infrastructure.
“Infrastructure is neither Democrat or Republican, it’s American. While we all agree we need to invest in our nation’s infrastructure, the other side of the aisle is silent on ways to make this happen. We need a robust package to rebuild our roads and bridges, to ensure our waterways and airways are clean, and to invest in green technologies, like solar and wind power, for the future. That’s why I introduced the America Wins Act, which taxes pollution at its source and raises over $1 trillion to invest back into America’s infrastructure,” said Larson. “With a robust infrastructure package, we can fund projects like the I-84 and I-91 tunnel proposal to transform regions across the country.”
Larson is the author of the America Wins Act, which would address our global climate crisis head on and invest over $1 trillion into our nation’s infrastructure.
- Puts a tax on carbon pollution, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 52% in ten years, laying the groundwork for zero emissions by mid-century.
- Invests $1.2 trillion in all types of needed infrastructure from transportation to clean water.
- Invests $44 billion in clean energy research.
- Focuses on climate justice and support for frontline communities impacted by climate changes.
