Larson: Farm Bill Makes Strides for American Farmers and Families

December 13, 2018

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Larson (CT-01) released the following statement, after the House of Representatives passed the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018.

"I was pleased to vote in favor of the 2018 Farm Bill which was spared from the addition of unnecessary work requirements for thousands of First District residents that utilize the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Those requirements would have cut benefits for our most vulnerable who rely on SNAP. This legislation was an example of what can be achieved when two sides of the aisle come together and work on behalf of the country, farmers and families.

"I would also like to commend Congressman Joe Courtney for fighting for improvements to the dairy insurance program, which is so important to the small dairy farmers in Connecticut," said Larson.
