Larson Demands Action After Tragic School Shooting in Minnesota
East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement as more details come out in the hours since the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School.
“It was beyond horrifying to see two innocent children – eight and ten years old – shot dead in Minnesota during the first week of school,” said Larson. “More than twelve years since 26 innocent lives were taken at Sandy Hook, all of us in Connecticut know too well the pain these shootings inflict on our communities. The more we find out, the more unspeakable and tragic today’s shooting becomes. Children attacked during morning mass. Constant gunfire from not one, but three separate firearms. To think that we have grown numb to these tragedies is an indictment on our society, and our kids are paying the price. Enough is enough. It is time for bold action – no more baby steps. Speaker Johnson: convene Congress to pass an assault weapons ban and universal background checks now. I will not rest until we get this job done.”
