Larson Commends President Biden’s Calls to Protect and Expand Social Security

Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released this statement following President Biden’s calls to protect Social Security from Republican attacks and expand the program for beneficiaries.  

“When the man from Scranton speaks, the country listens,” said Larson. “Monday’s National Day of Action for Social Security showed the American people that Democrats are fighting to not just protect Social Security from Republican attacks but also to expand and enhance the program. I commend President Biden for joining in our efforts to compare Republican plans to cut benefits, privatize, and even end the program entirely with our plan to improve benefits and strengthen Social Security for years to come. 

“President Biden has called Social Security a ‘sacred trust’ between the American people and their government, and we will keep up the fight to ensure this program fulfills its promise,” Larson continued.
