Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) participated in the Ways and Means Committee Hearing "In Their Own Words: Paid Leave, Child Care, & an Economy That Failed Women" and called for the passage of Rep. Rosa DeLauro's (CT-03) FAMILY Act.

"Since leading the effort to pass the nation's first Family and Medical Leave Act as the President of the Connecticut State Senate, I have been fighting to ensure that all Americans have access to paid time off to care for themselves and their families. The pandemic has made it even more clear that we need Paid Family and Medical Leave, and we need it now," said Larson. "I am proud to participate in today's hearing where we heard from witnesses about the critical importance of affordable child care and paid leave. I will continue my career long fight to make that happen and pass the FAMILY Act.

"Additionally, I am proud that Connecticut has continued to lead on this issue, from Senator Chris Dodd who led the national Family Medical Leave Act effort, to Chairwoman DeLauro who continues to be one of the greatest champions for American families. Thanks to the leadership of Gov. Lamont and the Connecticut General Assembly, the state has already enacted Paid Family and Medical Leave, it's time for the rest of the country to follow its lead."

Earlier today, Larson announced that Connecticut would be receiving $275 million for child care providers from the American Rescue Plan.
