Larson Calls for Immediate Action on Alarming Maternal Mortality Rate
Washington, D.C. – During today’s Ways and Means hearing on Overcoming Racial Disparities and Social Determinants in the Maternal Mortality Crisis Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) called for immediate action to address the alarming maternal mortality rate in the United States, especially among women of color. Larson also submitted this article Mothers Are Dying in Childbirth; Why Isn’t Anyone Talking About for the record, that highlights the stories of several Connecticut mothers who have died after giving birth.
“We need to take immediate action to address the alarming maternal mortality rate in this country. Instead of focusing on dismantling the Affordable Care Act, we need to work together to address this issue immediately and implement the suggestions of today’s witnesses,” said Larson.
