Larson Calls for “Fierce Urgency of Now” for Action on Infrastructure
Washington, D.C. – In today’s Ways and Means Committee Hearing on “Our Nation’s Crumbling Infrastructure and the Need for Immediate Action”, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) further highlighted the urgent need for infrastructure investment after eight years of inaction from the Republican led Congress.

“The fierce urgency of now is present and here. For the past eight years, Congress has not acted on infrastructure. The American Society of Civil Engineers gives the state of our infrastructure a grade of ‘D+’. Today’s witnesses highlighted the need for us to act now. We can’t continue to let our infrastructure crumble into disrepair and let our communities continue to suffer because of mistakes of the past. The I-84 and I-91 tunnel proposal in Hartford could transform the region’s infrastructure and provide a 100-year solution. This critical project and others across the country won’t happen unless Congress follows through and does its job,” said Larson.
