Larson Applauds Court Decisions Ordering Trump Officials to Continue SNAP Benefits

October 31, 2025

East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) applauded today’s court rulings ordering the Trump Administration to follow the law and release congressionally-authorized funds to continue SNAP benefits into November.

Last week, Larson and the entire Connecticut delegation demanded the immediate release of contingency funds to keep food assistance flowing, as required by law. On Tuesday, they joined Attorney General William Tong to announce a multi-state lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s illegal threats to shut down SNAP.

“Today, the courts ordered Donald Trump to release funding for SNAP now, just as we have been demanding for the past week,” said Larson. “While the Trump Administration prioritizes ballrooms and billion-dollar bailouts for Argentina, it is beyond cruel to claim ‘the well has run dry’ for families in need here at home – especially given the fact that Congress has already authorized funding to keep food assistance flowing. What kind of man would try to take food out of our children’s mouths during these difficult times? In the wealthiest nation in the world, that should not even be a question. I am proud of our state’s Attorney General, William Tong, who took this administration to court to keep kids fed. Connecticut won’t stand by while our neighbors are threatened by a man willing to let our children, the disabled, the elderly, and our veterans go hungry. We fight back – and we win.”
