Larson Applauds Continuation of SNAP Benefits in Connecticut, Vows to Keep Up the Fight Against Trump Shutdown Games
East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement applauding Governor Lamont’s announcement that SNAP benefits for the month of November will be issued in full for Connecticut recipients, and vowing to keep up the fight against President Trump’s illegal SNAP shutdown. While funding is currently scheduled to be released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Trump Administration continues to appeal court decisions ordering them to keep food assistance flowing.
“Congress authorized funds. Courts stepped in. But Donald Trump continues to double down, using every tool in his arsenal to let families go hungry,” said Larson. “Unlike the cruelty coming from the Trump Administration, the State of Connecticut is stepping up ensure benefits go out in full. I applaud Governor Lamont for swiftly acting to ensure our seniors, children, and veterans get FED. Our entire delegation will continue to fight in Congress and stand with Attorney General Tong as he takes President Trump on in court. While it is good news that benefits are on their way, the law is clear. The Administration has no standing to deny aid and should drop their appeals. The uncertainty this president has created in service of his own ego has wreaked havoc across our nation, and it must end. Our nation is better than these games the ‘narcissistic nihilist’ in office continues to play. Enough!”
