Press Release

Hartford, CT - House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee Chairman John B. Larson (CT-01) applauded the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Retail Federation, the National Association of Manufacturers, and two dozen additional business organizations who wrote a letter opposing President Trump’s recent order to defer payroll taxes.

“Business leaders are joining Americans across the country in saying a payroll tax deferral is a bad idea. It doesn’t provide relief to those who need it most, it could leave Americans with a huge tax bill next year, and is an attempt to defund Social Security. I applaud them for speaking out and joining us in opposing this ill-advised order,” said Larson.
