LARSON ANNOUNCES HUD GRANT FOR PORTLAND HOUSING AUTHORITYPORTLAND - U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) announced today that the Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a grant to the Portland Housing Authority under the Capital Fund program for $102,198.

According to the Portland Housing Authority, the grant will be used to replace windows and doors at the Chatham Court public housing units in Portland, which is roughly 20 years old.

"Public housing is of the utmost importance to not only the families that live there, but also to the surrounding community. We are always grateful for an opportunity like this to make sure that peoples' homes are cared for and are constantly striving to improve and renew public housing developments," said Larson. "I'm thrilled that HUD gave Portland this important grant."

According to Portland Housing Authority, Chatham Court has 48 family units, and added that any money that does not go to replacing windows and doors will be used for heating the units during the winter.
