LARSON ANNOUNCES $72 MILLION CONTRACT AWARD FOR JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER

EAST HARTFORD?U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) today announced that Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a $72 million contract for engine work for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft. The Department of the Navy announced that 72% of the work will be completed at Pratt & Whitney?s East Hartford facility.

"?This is of course fantastic news for the Joint Strike Fighter program and the First District,? said Larson. ?Moving ahead with this extremely valuable program helps ensure a strong future for our national defense, and contributes to the continued economic health of Connecticut. The JSF and F-22 programs both represent the next generation of military flight technology and are essential to maintaining our military air superiority. I am proud to be a supporter of the JSF program and ecstatic to see this $72 million investment in our national defense.?

According to the Department of the Navy, the results of this procurement will allow for a smooth transition from the JSF Concept Demonstration phase to the JSF Engineering, Manufacturing and Development phase.
