Larson: Aid to Ukraine Can’t Wait for Republican Games

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after Speaker Johnson sent Members home for the weekend without holding a vote on aid for Ukraine.
“It is inexcusable that the Speaker has once again sent us home for the weekend without even holding a vote on desperately needed aid for Ukraine,” said Larson. “Japanese Prime Minister Kishida put it best to us in his speech to Congress yesterday when he said that our leadership is indispensable. We cannot allow the devastation to continue as bombs fall from the sky, and families are torn apart. While Speaker Johnson and an extreme faction of House Republicans continue to play politics here at home, the Ukrainians are lacking critical resources to defend themselves against Russia’s aggression. Without U.S. support, Ukraine will be forced to retreat even further in the face of Putin’s onslaught. If we deny the people of Ukraine in their time of need, history will never forget. The world is watching.”
