Connecticut Congressional Delegation Urges President Trump to Support Families of 9/11 Victims in Pursuit of Justice

May 29, 2020
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman John Larson (CT-01), Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02), Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04), and Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) released the following statement in support of 9/11 families in their pursuit of justice:

“For nearly two decades, the families of 9/11 victims have sought justice regarding Saudi Arabia’s participation in the unspeakable terrorist attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001. We continue to support 9/11 families—especially those of our constituents in Connecticut—following the latest developments in the ongoing civil lawsuit and their relentless pursuit of justice. President Trump and his administration should join us in siding with American families over Saudi Arabia. That includes support for Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler’s State Secrets Protection Act, which would give our nation’s courts meaningful power over the government’s ability to withhold evidence in litigation—even when it may not pose a genuine threat to national security. President Trump made promises to 9/11 victims’ families that have yet to be fulfilled, and these steps would help them find some sense of closure following their tragic losses.”
