BradleyInternational Airport Awarded $1.3 Million Federal Grant for New AirportTerminal

Hartford, CT-U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) announced today that BradleyInternational Airport in Windsor Locks, CT has received a federal grant forapproximately $1.3 million to fund the development of a new terminal at theairport. The grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, willprovide funding for preliminary engineering and design to develop the airport'snew terminal.

"Connecticutis uniquely situated in between New York City and Boston, and with thisfunding, Bradley International Airport will be able to expand its facilities toincrease its plane and passenger capacity. By linking this funding with effortsto develop the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail line, Connecticut willcontinue to be the economic crossroads to the tri-state area and New England,"said Congressman Larson.

Earlier this year, Congressman Larson hosted Congressman James L.Oberstar, Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, ona tour of Bradley International Airport. The two held discussions with stateand local officials on the further development of the airport and the NewHaven-Hartford-Springfield Line.

Bradley International Airport is the second largest airport in NewEngland. In March, Congressman Larson announced Bradley will receive eightmillion dollars in Recovery Act funding to repair one of the airport's runways.
