Larson Statement on President Trump’s Proposal to Cut Social Security
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee Chairman John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on President Trump’s budget which includes a $71 billion in cuts to Social Security:
“Last week President Trump said he was going to protect Social Security. This week, he released his budget which includes $71 billion in cuts to Social Security. This budget in a non-starter. His proposed cuts to Social Security, Medicare, food-assistance programs, and more will only hurt those who are already struggling. The President should live up to his promise, instead of breaking it.”
Larson is the author of the Social Security 2100 Act which would protect Social Security, enhance benefits, and ensure the program is sustainably solvent for 75+ years.
