Press Release

Washington – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) announced $44,758 in federal funding for the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency (CCRPA). The grant, awarded through the Economic Development Administration, aims to strengthen investment and job creation in Central Connecticut by supporting an update to the CCRPA's comprehensive economic development strategy. The grant will also fund two part-time positions to help coordinate collaboration between public and private sectors in the region.

"Strengthening partnerships between our public and private sectors is critical to economic development in Central Connecticut," said Congressman Larson. "Those partnerships, along with additional resources available to our municipalities, are vital to our recovery. I am pleased that the CCRPA has received this funding and look forward to seeing increased collaboration across the region."

"This grant will give CCRPA the resources we need to expand the economic development services we provide to the region. We are delighted to be able to dedicate resources to helping our member towns develop projects and obtain funding," said Timothy Malone, Senior Planner at CCRPA.

In August, the CCRPA was officially designated as an Economic Development District (EDD) by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The designation increases access to resources for strengthening economic recovery in the region that includes Berlin, Bristol, Burlington, New Britain, Plainville, Plymouth and Southington.
