ACT NOW: Larson Urges Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Go to IRS.Gov Before Wednesday Deadline
Hartford, CT – Today, House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee Chairman John B. Larson (CT-01) is urging Social Security beneficiaries with dependents who do not file tax returns to visit irs.gov before Wednesday’s deadline and file for the $500 per dependent child economic impact payment.
“The IRS and the Social Security Administration recently announced there is a deadline for Social Security beneficiaries who have dependents and don’t file taxes to file for their $500 per child economic impact payment. These beneficiaries should go to irs.gov immediately and fill out the form for non-filers before Wednesday, April 22nd. They will still get their $1,200 automatically, but must fill out the form to get the $500 per dependent child if they would like to receive that payment this year. I am urging everyone to do this as soon as possible to ensure you get your full economic impact payment,” said Larson. “In the meantime, I am urging the IRS to extend this deadline to ensure everyone who wants to file can.”
