Larson, Neal Blast Another Damning Whistleblower Allegation Against ‘DOGE’ and Social Security
Washington, D.C.—Today, Social Security Subcommittee Ranking Member John B. Larson (CT-01) and Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (MA-01) released the following statement after the Washington Postreported that another whistleblower has accused a former 'DOGE' employee of illegally copying two Social Security databases onto an unsecured thumb drive for personal gain:
“These continued revelations demand a full investigation with accountability if wrongdoing is confirmed. This is criminal, and the result of a year of lawlessness and mismanaging the people’s data that Republicans have insisted wasn’t happening.
“It wasn’t long ago that Commissioner Bisignano sat across from us and insisted there was nothing nefarious happening with Americans’ data at Social Security. Just last week, he dodged questions in front of the entire Committee, rightfully receiving bipartisan blowback for his lack of transparency. It’s clear that either he’s been asleep at the switch, or he’s deliberately misled members of Congress and the public—neither is acceptable. He must return to Ways and Means and tell Congress the full truth about what’s unfolding under his watch.
“This continued disregard for the law is why the public needs answers on 'DOGE.' Ways and Means Democrats have been sounding the alarm about the Administration’s reckless handling of Americans’ most sensitive data since the start, and these allegations only deepen our determination to get to the truth and ensure those responsible are held accountable.”
Larson and Neal introduced the Protecting Americans’ Social Security Data Act in March 2025 to prevent ‘DOGE’ and other Special Government Employees from accessing this private and confidential data. In September, Neal and Larson introduced a Resolution of Inquiry compelling information about ‘DOGE’ access to Social Security’s databases. Last week, Social Security Commissioner Bisignano appeared in front of the Ways and Means Committee in his role as ‘CEO of the IRS,’ where he refused to answer for the IRS data breach to Homeland Security or the voter data agreement between ‘DOGE’ and an ‘unnamed voter advocacy group’ attempting to use personal Social Security data to overturn election results.
