Larson Condemns the Trump Administration’s Forcible Removal of Senator Alex Padilla from a Press Conference
Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after Senator Padilla was forcibly removed from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference after attempting to ask questions about the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and military forces in Los Angeles.
“I am outraged by the removal and utter assault of Senator Alex Padilla after he exercised his right to demand answers from the Trump Administration,” said Larson. “Today, the Administration is acting more like Russia and China, and every American should be alarmed. If this can happen to a sitting U.S. Senator, it can happen to anyone. It is disgusting, un-American, and flat-out wrong. Senator Padilla deserves to be answered, not wrestled to the ground and put in handcuffs. The Administration is once again trying to intimidate elected officials and prevent us from doing our jobs, but they will not succeed. We will continue to speak up and fight for our constituents and hold the Administration to account. I stand with Senator Padilla, and I thank him for his courage and willingness to speak up.”
