Larson Calls on Vice President Vance and Cabinet to Invoke the 25th Amendment
East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) sent a letter to Vice President Vance and Cabinet members calling on them to invoke the 25th Amendment following Trump’s threats against Iran.
“President Trump has made it clear that he views the Constitution as a suggestion, but all elected officials and Cabinet members must remember their sworn oath. The President is not above the law and must not be treated as such. This chaos must end,” Larson wrote.
“It has become obvious he is incapable of executing the responsibilities and duties of the Office of President of the United States,” Larson continued. “A President who threatens the death of an entire civilization has demonstrated such a concerning degree of nihilistic egomania that he can no longer be entrusted with leading our great nation and putting the safety of the American people and our troops first. Therefore, I urge you to take immediate action to rein in the President and invoke the 25th Amendment.”

Dear Mr. Vice President,
President Trump’s statement threatening the Iranian people, where he said, “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” is reprehensible and should alarm every single American.
This statement is beyond appalling. It is heinous. Threatening the total destruction of an entire civilization is antithetical to American values. If we compromise our moral standing, we risk our leadership in the world and our national security as a result. This threat alienates our allies. It puts the lives of our brave service members at increased risk. It endangers Americans at home and abroad.
