Yesterday I announced that T. Boone Pickens will be my guest at a public forum I’m hosting on the economy and energy. The forum will take place at the Goodwin College Auditorium in East Hartford on Tuesday, November 24th from 4:00-5:30pm. Since the initial launch of the Pickens Plan last year, Mr. Pickens has recruited millions of Americans to join in the goal of creating a new clean energy economy for America. I am proud to co-sponsor the NAT GAS Act, legislation Pickens strongly supports, which will make domestic natural gas a more accessible alternative to imported oil while decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and urban pollution in vehicles. Earlier this year I had the pleasure to be interviewed by the Pickens Army on the Daily Pickens Blog. Here are some quick facts: -There are nearly 10 million Natural Gas vehicles worldwide. However, there are only about 150,000 in the United States. - Natural gas produces 22 to 29 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than diesel- or gasoline-powered vehicles -Converting one refuse truck from diesel to natural gas is the equivalent of taking as many as 325 cars off the road in terms of pollution reduction. To RSVP for the forum, please contact my office at 860-278-8888. Click here to see the event's flyer. I am truly looking forward to T. Boone’s visit to Connecticut. Hey, I might even treat him to a hot dog at Augie and Ray's. |
